Jon,

Are you sure you don't mean Halstead?
Also, if you could post a date or month it would help.

Regards

Dave

Re: Please help me trace a downed Battle of Britain BF109

Hello.
Thanks for the responses, I have just picked up a single very bent prop from a I09 to add to my collection. The only details on it is a small label with the words..... BF109 Location Salstead, Kent ?

I assume it is from a 109 but could be from another type perhaps ??

Regards
Jon

It is just possible that you have one of the propeller blades recovered from Selstead Farm, Wootton, by the Ashford & Tenterden Group back in 1972. If so, then available evidence points to it being from Bf109E-4 (WNr5395) of Oberlt Erich KIRCHEIS the Geschwader Adjutant of Stab JG51 who baled out over Wootton on 28 August 1940 landing at Gatteridge Farm, Denton. But be aware that this so-called 'provenance' is based entirely on the label attached & I, for one, would not accept it as such.
