TA152 losses

Hauptmann Hermann Stahl of JG301 is killed on 11/4/45 or 24/4/45? I know he was lost in combat with a Yak-9. I am looking for losses of Fw190D or TA152 to coincide with 2 victories by Kapt Koldunov of the 866 IAP.

regards

Keith

Re: TA152 losses

Dear Keith,

Hermann Stahl was KIA on 24 April 45. He flew one of five Ta 152s providing cover for a ground attack mission of other JG 301 elements (comprising Fw 190s and Bf 109s) against Russian positions SE. of Berlin. They were intercepted by Soviet Yak-9s during a subsequent tactical recce in the Zossen area and Stahl was shot down in the ensuing low-level dogfight. To my knowledge the W.Nr. and tactical code of his Ta 152 are unknown.

Hope this is of help.

Cheers,

Marc

Re: TA152 losses

Dear Keith,

sorry to disappoint you, but Koldunov´s claims for 2 Fw 190s destroyed have surely no connection to the loss of Hptm. Stahl of JG 301. Stahl was killed in the Berlin area on 24 April 1945, while Koldunov made these claims (his last ones) "south of Goldegebend", which I assume is a village of Goldegeben in Vienna area. His 866 IAP was active over Austria in April 1945, far far away from the Berlin front. Moreover, Koldunov´s claims in question were made on 11 April.

Hope this helps,

Ota

Re: TA152 losses

Thanks chaps, I was taking a leap of faith ;-)

One source says he claimed 2 TA152 on 11/4/45 and Wiki states he died on that date so... It may be his claims were either Bf109 or Fw190D.

regards

Keith
