Steinhoff JV 44 victories

Hallo.
Could you please someone help me?
Ernst Obermaier has written in his book "
Die Ritterkreuzträger der Luftwaffe" , that Johannes Steinhoff had shot down 3 Soviet and 3 American airplanes, when he was at the Unit JV 44.

I have found this:

End of Februar (28. 2. 1945 ?) Il-2 Steinhoff, Johannes: In Letzter Stunde
End of March (27.3. 1945?) 2x Soviet fighter Steinhoff, Johanes: In Letzter Stunde
8. 4. 1945 B-24 Steinhoff, Johannes: In Letzter Stunde
8. 4. 1945 P-51 Toliver/Constable: Das Waren Deutschen Jagdflieger asse
17. 4. 1945 B-17 Steinhoff, Johannes: In Letzter Stunde

Please, can you verify (confirm) this from some oficial sources?

Thank you very much for your help.

Brzkovský Marek.

Re: Steinhoff JV 44 victories

Hello.
Where do these 6 victories come from? From microfish of Lufftwaffe´s victories?
JV 44 wasn´t involved in fights nor on April the 3rd nor April the 9th in the year 1945
I know for sure that on April the 8th 1945 in the fight, when
Fä
hrmann was shot down (at 16:15 Lt. Usiatynski from 358. FG), Steinhoff has shot down B-24 and P-51.

Thank you.

Neither 8th nor 15th Af lost any B-24s over Germany on 08.04.1945. Further only a single P-51 was shot down by Flak.

Re: Steinhoff JV 44 victories

Gentlemen

this was P-51 44-64011, 355.FG, 357.FS.

According to MACR 13959, this a/c was hit by Flak around 12.35 hrs while strafing Ansbach a/f.

Pilot was 1./Lt. William J. Cullerton, he died in early 2013.

Regards

Heuser
