18/03/1944 Capt. Jack ‘ Walrus Jack ‘ Rowland Warren 357 FG
Hi,
This ace, who is still mentioned on the Tablets of Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery, was killed when his P51B 43-12124 crashed on 18/03/1944. The MACR 3400 mentions that his plane was last seen at about 12h25 over or around Oostende (Belgium) The German document J736 mentions the crash of a Thunderbolt in the sea 1 km north of Middelkerke at 17h15 and that no information regarding the pilot is available. Middelkerke is close to Oostende but the type of the aircraft and the time of the crash don’t match. The German document J1020 mentions the crash of a Mustang at Weiler, at 13h10 and again no information regarding the pilot is available. There are several locations called Weiler in Germany, but the distance between Oostende and Weiler is more than 500 km. Are any additional details regarding these 2 crashes and the fate of Capt Jack Warren and another pilot available ? Many thanks and best regards Luc |
