Help with possible Ju87D crash Hungary
The bare-headed Hungarian Cavalry officer in the middle of the picture is my Grandfather and I’ve had this photo since he died, always wondered what it was and where it was taken! I posted the picture up on a Facebook page I frequent and the consensus was that it was a Ju87D, likely number T6+NR from Stg2, wr 140288 crashed 30km W of Budapest 24 Dec 44. However, that was the start of the siege of a Budapest and they appear to be wearing summer uniforms and lightly armed, if at all. I can’t imagine this is the frontline in Dec 44. It looks the wr might be in the region of x767x so is there anyone more eagle eyed who can help identify this at all? Thank you! |
