Me109E Data Plate Info - Flugzeugbau meaning
Hey guys...
My understanding of Flugzeugbau is the direct translation: Aircraft Construction. I have a main data plate from an Me109E Vertical Stabilizer...and where it would normally have a "W.Nr." stamped...it has "FB". On these early aircraft parts, I have seen "Flugzeugbau" representing the MAIN aircraft ID...and not a part number. Fore example, I have seen "W.Nr." and "FB" on the same data plate...one representing the part serial number, the other representing the main aircraft serial number. "10243" however is a main ID for an Me109F...and I know for sure that an Me109E vertical stab will not fit on an Me109F...so I am assuming this should be interpreted as the part serial number... The "Z" on the bottom, from what I understand, indicates it is from an Me109 E with a GM-1. So an Me109 E-7 Z. Would everyone else concur? Mike
