Help with Lancaster

Hi this is my first post and I was recommended to try here from some of the guys on Hyperscale.

I am trying to find out as much as I can about this photo.

My grandfather is the chap third from the right in the picture and was called Gordon Brown. What his role in the crew was and where he was stationed I do not know. Unfortunately he passed away last year and the only other photo that I have is of the rear turret with gunner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help with Lancaster

Hi Phil

the best thing to do is apply for his service records

http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/raf.html

making sure to request photocopies of the originals. From that you can find out his role and units. If you post details from that then we maybe able to help more.

Re: Help with Lancaster

Hi Phil,
Amrit's right, with so little to go on, the service record is the only avenue to go down unless you're really lucky and somebody recognised another crew member through their research. It's a great photograph, thanks for posting it! If you've come from Hyperscale, do I assume you're a fellow modeller?
Regards
Max

Re: Help with Lancaster

Hi Galgos,

You are correct, unfortunately I also am afflicted with the addiction of sticking little pieces of plastic together. For some reason my wife does not quite understand my obsession with collecting huge quantities of kits and the regular need for new airbrushes etc. At least I can retreat to shedquarters and play with my plastic tanks and planes.

Happy modeling!
