StG 3 loss eastern front
Hello all,
i am looking for info on a loss with 1./StG 3 on 30.03.1944 around Ostrow. First name of the Flugzeugführer could be Fritz or Friedrich. Familyname of the Bordfunker/schütze was Smolla. Ju 87 D5, S7+EH. Any information would be appreciated. Norbert (NoNo) Bichler |

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front
I`ll give you a part about their death from that book:

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front
Gentlemen!
Would you be so kind as to inform the rest of us: the name of the book, the author, the publisher and perhaps where one might obtain a copy. Other details, like page count, ISBN, etc. would also be nice. It sounds intriguing! Thanking you in advance.... DGS |

Re: StG 3 loss eastern front
Hi Doug,
I believe Byron is referring to this book: "Fronteinsätze eines Stuka-Fliegers: Mittelmeer und Ostfront 1943-44" by Hans Peter Eisenbach, Helios Verlag, 2009, 120 pages, ISBN: 978-3-938208-96-0 Widely available, including here: http://www.christian-schmidt-fachbuc...oducts_id=6391 BTW, it's not obvious what the relationship is between Hans Peter Eisenbach and the book's subject, "Stuka-Fritz" (presumably Friedrich Eisenbach.) According to Hans Peter's bio on helios-verlag.com, he was born in 1952 and obtained Fritz's estate, including Flugbücher and photos, in 2005. The book apparently attempts to provide a complete account of the activities of I./StG 3 (later I./SG 3) from Sep '43 to Mar '44, based on Fritz' logbooks. Regards, Leon Venter |
