Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 as front unit
Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 was used as front unit in North Caucasus in the beginning of 1943. What planes they used?
Also any details of that unusual activity are interesting. Best regards, Andrey |

Re: Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 as front unit
Usually these units 2+3+4 flew Ju86, seems they were activated only for that period early 1943

Re: Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 as front unit
Thank you very much, Norbert!
Valuable info. All these planes were from Nachtfluglehrgang 3 or from other Nachtfluglehrgangen too? Did they used as day bombers too or at night only? Whether Nachtfluglehrgang 3 had losses or damages during Jan.-Feb.43? Best regards, Andrey |

Re: Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 as front unit
They are not all from Nachfluglehrgang 3. I do not know under which higher command Nachtfluglehrgang 3 was subordinated. Nachtfluglehrgang 1 was under Lw.Kdo.Don. I have no losses for Nachtfluglehrgang 3.

Re: Nachtflug Lehrgang 3 as front unit
Andrey,
the Nachtfluglehrgänge were blind flying training courses for bomber crews operating at the Eastern front and not combat units. These refresher training became necessary because more and more night operations were required even over Russia. The switch to an operational unit happened with the formation of Einsatzgruppe BFS 2 in July 1943 and later Einsatzgruppe 2.Fliegerdivision in November 1943.
