Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
In Obermaier,Hans Krause, Staffelkapitaen 6./NG-101, was credited with shooting down two Halifaxes while making an armed reconnaissance flight "bei Cap Ancona". Does anyone know the date of this event?

![]() I have a source that states on November 17/18, 1944 that he shot down 2 Wellingtons in the area of CAP ANCONA for his 25-26th kills. The Identification of the RAF bombers could be wrong of course. I suspect he was flying a Bf 110G-4 at this time

Quote:
He is referring to Die Ritterkrueztrager Der Luftwaffe, 1939-1945, Band 1, Jagdflieger by Ernst Obermaier, last published in 1986. It is out of print, but it is an essential reference if you can get one. |

Re: Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
John
Of course I have Obermaier and his first book I have the first printing in 1966 and it says "Not much is known about this night fighter pilots career. He flew with the NJG 3 and II./NJG 101. Kommandeur I./NJG 4 from December 1944 Total of 28 night fighter victories. " Obviously you and Kaki has a later addition. But please be aware that there are some of us who CANNOT afford to by EVERY issue published in second and even third printings!! My main aim is not for someone else to answer my plea but for the origin of the question asked to be more careful when referring to sources!! B Rgds Stig |

Re: Hans Krause-zwei Halifaxes shot down
Stig,
Sorry,I should have written out the entire title but I got lazy.Yes, i have the second edition, published in 1989 which is entirely in German. In my mind, this edition is esential for any Luftwaffe histirian since it has much more detail than the first edition. Carlos |
