Claims over the target, Pennemünde 17/18 August 1943
I'm not sure if I need to create a new thread on this (Luftwaffe & Axis) discussion forum - please forgive the duplication if you normally read other discussion forums here.
May I please ask some assistance of the Luftwaffe claims experts re. the loss of a Lancaster at Pennemünde I have posted another thread on the Allied and Soviet airforces discussion forum re. the loss of my Uncle’s aircraft, Lancaster EE147, PG-P of 619 squadron during the Peenemünde raid of 17/18 August 1943. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=8869 In it I allege that their aircraft, a member of the third wave of the attack on that night, was intercepted by a fighter, or hit by flak, in the immediate vicinity of the target and crashed not long after. This challenges Martin Middlebrook’s analysis per his book about the raid. May I ask interested parties to please take a look at my thread (above) and contribute if you are able. Many thanks, Don
