Rudolf Zwesken

Has anyone more information to Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Zwesken? Born in 13 August 1919 in Marschendorf. Would've committed suicide in 1947.

First question:
Does anyone know more about the victories of Rudolf Zwesken? The correct number would be unknown but it could be around 25 victories.

Second question:
What did he do before 1944?

Third question:
What is the reason he committed suicide?

I found this webpage online but I sadly do not speak any Italian. Sadly, Google Translate or other bring very bad and funny translation of it. If anyone could help me, help is much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Rudolf Zwesken

He flew with JG 52 and JG 300. He is credited with 45 including 10 4-motors. He was awarded the RK and DK.

Do you have more information to the 45 victories, a list of his Abschußen? Many thanks for the answer.

Rudolf Zwesken

Hello Bart

Here is what I have been able to find on this fellow. I hope that this answers some of your questions and any comments or corrections will be welcome. As of yet there appears to be no information regarding his claims with JG 52.

Horrido!

Re: Rudolf Zwesken

Interesting text unfortunately it doesn't mention any sources.

The bit about landing his Fw 190 with 1,2m less right wing (after ramming / colliding with a bomber) is notable, including the fact that he received extra praise from Dahl for doing so.

However the item does not include suicide as the cause of death (unknown causes).

Re: Rudolf Zwesken

Leo Etgen, is that your website? He would've committed suicide in 1947, not in 1946, in Bitterfeld /Sachsen-Anhalt. He was Verbandsführer in the 6. Staffel/ II. Gruppe des Jagdgeschwaders 300 "Wilde Sau". I have very less on Rudi Zwesken.

Ruy Horta, I am interested to the fact that you mention? As I do not have anthing to that fact. (Probably from the portugese text thought I would ask must someone have more info to this).

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Rudolf Zwesken

Somewhere on the Internet I read this (Unfortunately I don't know where. It's about two or three years back):

Zwesken after his release from American / British captivity, still this day (reportedly February 22, 1946) went to drink freedom to a nearby pub. Too bad she was full of British and American soldiers. When they learned it was German, one of the British or American soldiers shot him. To avoid a scandal, they called it suicide. And to this day, the circumstances of his death are unclear and incomplete.

Who knows if it's true or not ...
