Oblt. Greiner's victory on 2/5/1944

Hi all,

I would like to know whether somebody has information concerning the 24th victory of Oblt. Georg-Hermann Greiner (11./NJG 1) on 2/5/1944 (combat report or witness report). He claimed this victory at 00.15 h. at 15 km S. of Brussels, thus near Braine-l'Alleud. Many thanks for your help in anticipation.

Hi,

I have Georg Greiner's victories timed as 00.28 and 00.36 hours on 02.05.44, both of which he claimed/identified were Halifaxes involved in raids on railway yards at Ghislain and Malines in Belgium.

I know for a fact he doesn't have his log books or copies of any of his victory reports, and his memory for individual claims is not good.

Thanks for your help. I know Greiner is still alive, but it is really a pity he lost all his combat reports and his log book.

I will be speaking with Georg over the next few days, i will ask him about the log book. I believe he gave it away sometime during the 60s or 70s. I have a copy of his first log book, but this only goes up to the end of 1942. I will ask him about the second log book and see if he can remember to whom he gave it. All the best,
