Unknown Ju 88 G-6

Hello everyone,

I have seen several post-war photos of a Ju 88 G-6 night fighter apparently taken in the USA. It has no visible markings, save a small black letter “B” under its nose and roughly applied black markings reading, “USA 2?” on its rear fuselage.

Can anyone help me identify this aircraft? I have tried searching for information on it but came up empty handed.

I have note 620116 possibly went to the USA. Unfortunately this note does not have reference attached. Sorry.

Hi Ed,

After looking at the print carefully, I think you are correct about the WNr.

Thanks,

Re: Unknown Ju 88 G-6

This is possibly "USA 21." It was also given an FE-611 and T2-611 designation. It is listed as surrendered to the RAF at Grove in Denmark and later handed over to Col. Watson. It was stored at Freeman Field but its final fate is unknown. The WNr is listed as unknown.

From War Prizes by Phil Butler, page 218.

I'm off to the Air Force Museum in a couple of weeks to do some research. I could check with my contact there if you like.
