Leutnant Gerhard Wiegand

Hi guys

Leutnant Gerhard Wiegand (32 victories, DK-G) of 4./JG 26 was shot down and injured while bailing out following aerial combat with P-38 twin-engined fighters of the 55th FG, USAAF on 11 June 1944. Would anyone have the loss list information for his fighter that he flew that day? Many thanks.

Horrido!

Leo

Leutnant Gerhard Wiegand

Hi guys

A follow up question regarding the incident in which he was injured while performing a crash-landing in Fw 190 A-4 "Black 4" (W.Nr. 0140 682) at Arques-St Omer due to engine trouble. The JG 26 War Diaries state that this incident occurred on 4 November 1942 while the QM 6 returns list the date as 14 November 1942. Which is correct? Many thanks for any clarification.

Horrido!

Hello Jim

Many thanks for the clarification. I was leaning towards the latter date but was hoping someone would mention what Prien had just to be sure. I hope that all is well with you and many thanks for your help.

Horrido!
