Flying accident, France, 1943.
Hello,
on a police report I have read the story of an accident between two aircraft in flight (75 km NE of Lyon, France). It happens in october 1943. The planes were identified by 2 letters and a number. First: NV N°4 Second: NV N° 045 Each is a single engine. 1 pilot died, 1 was injured. Do you have an idea of the type of aircraft and the unit ? Thanx.

Flugzeugführer Ogfr Gaiser, Robert, verletzt Zusammenstoß um 11.30 Uhr in der Luft mit Ju 87 A-1, Werk.-Nr. 0004. Bruch 85 %. 1943-10-24, 3./Schl.G 101, Ju 87 A-1, 4, 6 km südwestlich Massieux, nördlich Lyon Flugzeugführer Uffz Brehmer, August, + Zusammenstoß um 11.30 Uhr in der Luft mit Ju 87 A-1, Werk.-Nr. 0945. Bruch 90 %. Matti

Most impressed Matti with how you found this. As to why they were flying Ju 87s, surely the answer is they were as two collided!

Is it just me who find WNr 0945 to be an odd one?
The Ju 87 A production was quite small and I have the following ranges WNr 870001 to appx 870200 (some sources state 870188 and up were B-models) WNr 875000 to appx 875078 (some sources state 875070 and up were B models) So where does this 0945 fit into the picture? Was there a third production range I know nothing about? Is it possible 0945 was not an A model at all, perhaps not even a Ju 87? Cheers Stig

Sorry, finger trouble. Of course it was 0045. 0 and 9 are too close each other in the keyboard.

Very relevant Chris
 I have an interesting event to submit. Robert Vanson, in "Des Stukas à Hyères" (1964, Journal Municipal de la Ville d'Hyères), explained that the Stukas of Hyères School were given gradually to SG 101 from September 1943. The accident probably took place during the transit of a group of these aircrafts.

Never thought of that  Always thought you did some copy and paste from your archives. Now I know better! Anyway we all have had finger trouble in our lives.... Thanks for the correction....now I can relax again.... Cheers Stig
