Re: Difficult identification
Hi,
A nice find. Plane model: Fw 190 A-2 or Fw 190 A-3 Model under Construction: Not sure what you mean? Unit: IV. Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 5, 12. Staffel, the aircraft coded "Yellow 15" Year: I believe early 1943 Country: Norway, possibly the island of Herdla And that elusive Staffel emblem... Regards, Sinisa |

Re: Difficult identification
Looks like the skiing Mickey Mouse also found on "Yellow 16"" from 12./JG 5 WNr 5425

Re: Difficult identification
Many thx dear Friends,
precise data, I am overwhelmed. One problem remaining for me: What about Micky Mouse and the emblem. What is the emblem, could not find earlier anything looking like this "shadow" emblem. So I have no idea what the emblem looks (looked) like in reality. Maybe i find it now with your data. Or you let me know. All the best dnalor |

Re: Difficult identification
The emblem is on page 31 of Luftwaffe Emblems 1939-1945 by Barry Ketley. It is Mickey Mouse on skis which make up the lower V shape, and the short angled piece in the upper right might be part of a scarf. A strange drawing.

Re: Difficult identification
Norway probably, but not Herdla.
You won't find that kind of moutains on the island of Herdla. JKS |

Re: Difficult identification
A glimpse on Wiki about Herdla supports Stenwig´s opinion.
But all suggestions are welcome. As for :under construction: a common phrase in New-German meaning a thing gets built, renewed, restored, salvaged, put together, repaired.... Grettings dnalor |

Re: Difficult identification
Yup,
Still not sure what to make it from Model + under construction...? The aircraft apparently got damaged, possibly in hard landing, and it may have never flown again. Other than that, it is hard for me to tell. Perhaps some resident experts can tell something more. Regards, Sinisa |
