Ki-61 Question
Just been doing some research into the Ki-61.
As far as I can see there are three variants but I'm sure there may be more. These are the ones I have: Ki-61-I-Hie Ki-61-I-Tei Ki-61-I-KAIc Anyone know of any more? I can only find one external difference and that is on the K-61-I-KAIc which appears to have six exhausts when viewed in profile, instead of the normal five. I assume there is a different engine type or modified engine which would explain the extra exhaust? Are there any other external differences? Thanks Pathfinder |

Re: Ki-61 Question
There is a lot more to the aircraft than that. You will find the following links useful:

Re: Ki-61 Question
I have noted that the Ki-61-1-KAIc, which is my main interest at the moment, had a fuselage that was increased by 7.5'', 20mm in the fuselage and a fixed tail wheel.
Question: Did this extra 7.5'' make it one of the long-nosed variety that is mentioned then? Despite reading up on this aircraft all day, I remain confused which were the so-called short nosed and long nosed variety....it's been a loooong day ![]() Regards Pathfinder |

Hello!
I am also interested in ki61 due to its license-built DB601Aa. Do you have a japanese edition Famous Aircraft of the World No.17 1989-7? Difficult to read japanese but many strong info. It can be downloaded as 18,7 M pdf file from there: http://www.zshare.net/download/61kibu-rar.html Downloaded file can be opened using password PF42. As for me file opened succesfully. All the best. Igor. |
