New Dornier 17 image? - Kenley raid 18th August 1940

Link below to an image which I've stumbled across which may belong to the set of remarkable images which were taken by war correspondent Rolf Von Pebal whilst hitching a ride in Fw Reichels' 9/KG76 Dornier on 18th August en route to attack Kenley at low-level.

After washing it though photoshop the codes are possibly F1+FT and F1+AT. The left hand Dornier may therefore be piloted by Fw Gunether Unger? and the right hand machine piloted by Fw Johannes Petersen?. Pebal is recorded as being in Reichels machine which was to the right of Unger, with Petersen in the lead of the left hand V of the nine a/c. Unfortunately I do not have a list of the nine aircraft codes so am speculating. Perhaps someone has them?

According to the account in The Hardest Day by Alfred Price, the well known low level channel image of the Do17s against Beachy Head was taken around 1pm. Therefore Petersens' crew were killed in action over Kenley around 20 minutes after this photograph was taken. Also aboard was Oberst (Group Captain) Dr Otto Sommer who was along to get operational experience.

Just adding a late note, that it could possibility have been taken on a training flight as the date is 1st August 1940 (assuming of course that the caption date is correct too : )

Would be interested to hear members views....

They keep on cropping up-I have obtained two more one as they clear the cliffs and another going over a large building at East Grinstead. Von Pebal and Georg Hinze were the 2 surviving cameramen, Hinze being in the Ilg Do 17. Photo date according to Alamy is 1 Aug 40 so if true could have been a training flight
