If the date on the back of the photos of sw. 8 of JG 54 is correct, it could be the F-2 (not a G) of Gefr. Rudolf Gerecke of 2./JG 54 who crash landed after an air battle. Interestingly, the loss is given as 100%, but if this is his machine, it does not look that bad.

Would that not depend on whether it was recoverable? This may have been when the German unit arrived to blow it up. A number of aircraft have been recovered from Russia which are 10-20% damage listings but 100% because they colud not be recovered. Would be interesting to know where it forcelanded? regards Mark

John, there are two different dates on the back of the photos, 18.July42 and 23.July42 and to me the aircraft looks like some Landser laid hands on the wreck already. The photographer states that the shots were taken on this dates, that doesn´t necessarily mean that the aircraft came down on that date. Do you have an earlier date for the crash, which fits to black 8 from 2.JG54?

The only possibility listing I can see is the following. 25.06.42 2/JG54 Bf109F-4 WNr.7454 20% Pl.Qu.19271 No tactical number or pilot name. summer 1942 and damage % seem to be consistant. Nothing else (in the JG54 lists) seems close. Any thoughts regards Mark
