He 111 P-4 KG 55 on 8th april 1941

Hi guys,

He 111 Wn.3976 (GI+KH) was lost on 7/8th april 1941 when it crashed into the Channel near Worthing at 00.37 hrs.
Ff. H.K. Schwiering was killed and washed up Schiermonnikoog in september 1941, he was buried there grave 61.
Does anyone know the names and function of the other crewmembers.
Are they buried somewhere or all mia?
Can anyone confirm that this a/c was asigned to 1./KG 55

Thanks in advance.

All I could find was Ff Ofw Heinrich Schwiering m-+, B Fw Werner Ehrlich m, Bf Fw Wilhelm Letzius m, Bm Fw Ernst Nottmeier + body washed ashore Worthing on 18-4-1941 (now buried Cannock). believed fell to a Beaufighter of 219Sqn. at 0137 hrs. while on a mission to bomb Greenock by Glasgow.
I have WN as 2976 ( from Luft Qm's returns)

Brian,
Thanks for the crew info.
I've got nothing to verify Wn.3976 nor Wn.2976

Does anybody know about He 111 Wn.3976
Can anyone verify Schwierings a/c as an 1./KG 55 a/c

Hi Andy,

The KG55 book has the Bf as Letzgus but the Luft.QM's returns has the name as Letzius, do you have other comfirmation of the spelling. There appears to be a correction note on the QMs list but I cannot make this date out,
