Destroying of III./SG 2 on April 16 1945
Hello,
I am trying to identify which US 8th AF unit destroyed 7 Fw190Fs and 27 Stukas of III./SG 2 on Airfield Klecany nearby Prague on April 16 1945. Does somebody knows which US fighter pilots (namely) claimed these planes on this day? Could somebody help me? Some sources indicated that it could be 335th FS 4th FG, but AFAIK their pilots claimed only 2 Fw 190s and no Stuka. Thank you for reply Michal |

![]() Michal,
This will be difficult to identify the planes. This particular day, 8th AF fighters claimed for 752 german planes destroyed on the ground on various airfields. fighter-bombers from 9th AF were involved too (Leipzig, Pretzsch and Oschatz airfields). On Pragues area, 2 Me262 were downed by 368th FG's Thunderbolt. Good luck ! Stéphane Muret |

Re: Destroying of III./SG 2 on April 16 1945
Stephan,
I know. 8th AF fighters claimed only on the territory of Bohemia 251 planes destroyed on ground. 4th, 78th, 339th, 355th, 357th and 364th FGs were involved in strafing of Bohemians Airfields. I suppose that such a high number of destroyed Stukas should appear in some Operational Records. I don´t have evidence, that other then III./SG 2´s Stukas were destroyed on ground that day. I am really very suprised where you found that on April 16 1945 2 Me 262s were shot over Bohemia (or Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren). I know only that on April 17 1945 6 Me 262 (two unidentified) and 4 from I./JG 7 plus 1 damaged from I./JG 7. I don´t have (and never seen other evidence) any shot down Me 262 on April 16 1945.
