Seen this before Ed, but interesting all the same.

It appears to show the Ar 196 V4 (D-OVMB, 2592) landing and then suffering catastrophic engine failure.

The aircraft was recorded as being on strength with E-Stelle (See) Travemünde between Feb 1938 to Jan 1939

The Ar 196 V4 (D-OVMB) shown in the first part of the video was at Travemünde for seaworthyness trials. This video was shot on December 8, 1938 with Helmut Schuster at the controls. This test sealed the fate of the center float Ar 196.

Okay, so this isn't an Ar196, but I thought some footage of another seaplane would be welcomed... this time, a Heinkel He115... no engines dropping off, either... !

...and on the top of this you see in fact 2 He 115 - VF+UY and NO+GW.
