74 Sqn 21 May 40
Dennis Knight has quite correctly pointed out that ZP-Q flown by Plt Off Dick Aubert who force-landed at Berck on 21 May 40 is not K9977 as recorded in a number of sources. Can anyone tell me what the correct serial number is?

Chris,
The Air 81 index notes K9957. The 'AEROMILITARIA' Spitfire I series agrees with this, recording it ran out of fuel and was abandoned. Regards, Martin.

From FCL vol 1 revised edition. 74 Sqn 21 May 1940 K9957 - P/O R D Aubert safe - Patrol. Force landing at Berck-sur-Mer due to fuel shortage after chasing a Ju88. Abandoned. See 25 May 1940.(typo/printers error, should read 24 May 1940). 74 Sqn 24 May 1940 P9321 - F/O D S Hoare POW Patrol. Force landed at Calais-Marck. Abandoned. P9441 - P/O R D Aubert +Patrol. Failed to return see 22 May 1940..(typo/printers error, should read 21 May 1940). K9992 - F/L W P F Treacy safe Patrol. Shot down and returned by ship. see 27 May and 20 April 1940. K9952 - Sgt E A Mould safe Patrol. Ditto. see 28 July 1940. Alex
