Bf109 details

Greetings all,

there is few details of interest on this image. First shape of the spinner is with no doubt strait. Second- flap door which have to be on down position is closed. Any technical explanation for this details?



One note- I have download this image from somewhere but to regret did not copy the addres and owner. In this way I have place copyright label. If any of you recognize this image please let me know to place credit or remove it.

So called straight shape is the cutout for the prop blade.

Jim is correct, you can see it clearly on the bottom blade, it's a fairly standard prop spinner.

The outer gear door is close by the main gear tire as it retracts, there are 2 locks that hold the door closed, cables release the locks as the gear starts to extend. As a result you can manually push the door closed on the ground till the locks engage and hold it closed.

Yes, the straight look on the spinner is only an optical illusion caused by the prop cutout

Oh, do not worry about copyright. this photo is Free Domain.

Thats why ask here. I have a bulk of images and several in this angle of view and only on this one I notice this shape. I know for the slot but could not imagine that it could not apear as curved upper line. Jim P. pointed that very precisely and I am sure corectly.
