Dutch translation needed

A question for our Dutch friends.

I translate the sentence "overleden ten gevolge van een vliegtuig beschieting" as "was killed by an air attack" but I wonder if "vliegtuig beschieting" may be translated by strafing.

Thanks in advance

Laurent
