Often overlooked, Italy has over the years published an extensive series of official history volumes about Italian operations in World War II. Some of these have now been translated into English as digital editions by Robert Denny. Translated volumes include:

• Le Operazioni in Africa Settentrionale: All four volumes on North Africa by Mario Montanari available here
• La Marina Italiana nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale: Multiple volumes on Italian navy and merchant vessels by various authors available here

All these translated volumes are available to peruse online and to freely download in a variety of formats.
