7 Dec. 1944 loss
Recently I aquired some documents for a Fallschirmjager who served with the Stab/3. Fallschirmjager Div.. In with the documents is a letter from the divisional commander stating that on 7 December 1944 while 3. Fallschirmjager Div. was moving with the 1 SS Panzerkorps, presumably in prepartation for the Battle of the Bulge, the soldier in question shot down with small arms fire (MG) one of two Jagdbombern i.e. fighter bombers which attacked the units.
The action took place when the units were between the areas of Schmidheim and Blankenheim. According to the report one of the fighter bombers was shot down. Are there any loss listings for RAF or USAAF a/c who went down in this area? Perhaps a bit of a needle in a hay stack but perhaps not.
