Blenheim N6231, 1st October 1939
The Blenheim N6231 of 139 Sqn RAF was shot down on 1st October 1939 during a reconnaissance flight over Germany by the Oblt Walter Adolph of 2./JG 1, that claimed his first victory of WWII.
According to Chorley and the Luftwaffe claim list, this took place in Bad Driburg area, but I have seen on the Net that the bomber crashed between Glissen and Westenfeld, 5km N of Petershagen, so roughly 75 km more north. I won't be surprised that this is the right crashplace, Bad Driburg being the area where the interception starts and the bomber crashing north of it after a chase, but I would like confirmation of it. Was the crashsite found there ? Thanks in advance |
