Re: Ju88 shot down Nr Warminster
Paul, re A-1 or A-5 debate, upon re-checking (I had not noticed before) this 3188 L1+XC (w. Green spinners) has a reported date, possibly an "Abnahme" date (for a component, rather than whole airframe in A.I.1.(K) report No. 566/1940 from 18.9.40) says on L1+XC : "The Aircraft was Works No. 3188, fitted out 4/7/40." - but could also be from compass card or similar - whilst other RAF report on "Ju88. A.5." L1+XC (all codes in Black) says "No number plates found". Suppose some notes or marking in the cockpit of it beeing A-5 version then?
But there might be a way of different kind of proof. If some one goes to Map Ref U.3868 (1 mls south of Imber presumably), landing site of 3188 L1+XC, that is also named Ladywell Barn, and perhaps has look round (perhaps shoots some panorama photos for us to see) and we all can check if background details fit.
Oh, and that other photo whould also be nice to find/see :-)
regards
Ed
