Bf109G (19201) 2.(F)/123 lost 4 September 1943
Hi guys
This particular loss has been mentioned previously, but can anyone add more? The recce Bf109 ditched off the coast of Crete (distance unknown, pilot unknown) apparently due to 'engine trouble'. The pilot was rescued (by what means?) Time unknown. On this same date, a Spitfire of 7SAAF failed to return after the pilot called Tally Ho! (1750) when about to engage a recce aircraft some 50+ miles from El Gamil (Egypt). Might the two have engaged? Cheers Brian |
