B-17 Crash Location
I am looking for B-17 that crashed in Germany on April 18th, 1945. The plane I am looking for crashed on April 18th, 1945. The crew bailed from the plane, and all the airmen survived the war. In addition, I know the following, plus I do have a copy of the MACR
- the pilot was taken prisoner upon hitting the ground near Augsburg by local citizens. -the co-pilot was captured, and upon being liberated, was flown out of Germany from an airstrip in Ulm -fighter escorts witness the crew bailing out near Crailsheim (nine of ten) -The B-17's Aircraft Serial #43-38646 Has anyone heard or know of a crash in that area, this late in the war? |
