Thanks for everyone for your comments. I've looked again closely at this and I think that it must be "Flugplatz Oberschlesien," although I don't know exactly what town "Airfield Upper Silesia" would refer to. You would think an airfield would be named for a specific place, rather than a region. This must have been a Polish Campaign location for the unit, or one in the couple of months afterwards, anyway, probably late 1939, rather than the 1940 I earlier thought. I've consulted the Flugbuch of Helmut Lent, who was a pilot in 1 Staffel of ZG76 during the period, but find no obvious answer to this.
Any further ideas? Regards |
