Stabskompanie I./JG 54
Hi,
Could someone please help me with the following query. What was the scope of duties of the Stabskompanie? I have found a reference that the Chef der Stabskompanie was responsible for the smooth running of the unit, and that he had some 260 men to help him doing so. Judging by the quoted manpower, I understand that the Stabskompanie was tasked with procurement for the whole Geschwader, and that it was only formation-wise subordinated to Stab I./JG 54. Is my understanding correct? Furthermore, their mascot was a Schreckensteiner. Were Schreckensteiner some sort of military police in the medieval times? Any reference, please? Regards, Sidney
