July 30, 1944, P-38 shot down near south France coast

Can anybody help with more information related to P-38 which was apparently lost on July 30, 1944 near South France coast?

Could it be American (?) Lt. Meredith flying with same unit like Saint-Exupery?

Any other P-38s lost in this area?

The claim was submitted by JGr. 200. Mr. Frappe in his book refers to P-38, Tony Wood refers to B-17.

Any help would be much appreciated

thanks
