Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
I do not wish to fan any flames in this matter - au contraire.
In fact, I wanted to say that the unfortunate comments directed at Chris Goss are entirely uncalled for on this forum where Chris is one of the stalwarts, always willing to help and advise - both on and off the forum. As a friend and colleague I wish to offer my support to Chris and suggest that BC withdraws his remark or withdraws from the forum. |

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
I endorse Andy Saunders' comments whole-heartedly. There are a number of 'expert' members of this forum normally prepared to help and assist others less-knowledgable by sharing the fruits of their research. It is an important aspect in the success of TOCH as a definitive source of good reliable information but is generally a 'one-way street'. As we all must surely know, such research is usually the result of years of delving into archives (many of them abroad) and prolonged correspondence with veterans and/or eye-witnesses (most of them now long gone) and represents a significant investment in time, effort, and yes - money. So why anyone should expect such information to be simply posted on request is breath-taking in its conceit. So we should not be too surprised (or disgruntled) when an appeal for information falls on deaf ears in future and be grateful when we do get the information that we seek.

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
Hi,
I think a hefty vote of thanks to Chris is in order for the time and effort he puts in, not only this forum, but also to the excellent books and articles he produces ( this should go to many others on this forum too ) Cheers Bruce Lander |

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
As a pretty new comer to this great forum , I fully agree with what Andy ,Peter and Bruce have posted .
I have contact Chris in the past and he was more than helpful , we must respect the long hours and hard work that people like Chris and others put into this hobby . Only for them we would still be in the dark on certain issues . |

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
Just to add to what Nick, Andy, Peter et al have already said; Chris is most definitely a stalwart of this board and is always willing to help if he can.
Any personal attacks against him are totally unjustified. Cheers Dave Wadman |

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
All seems a bit silly gentlemen.
I have always found everyone very helpful and I am only a real novice at this research game. Chris has offered help on every occasion and I remain very greatful for his and others help. I think communication is the key to this sad little thread Rick |

Re: 4/KG40 : Ofw. Werner Neuenfeldt and crew 1944
Concur with all comments here, but have to add that not reading German is pretty weak. If this is a one time inquiry, I apoligize, but if the Luftwaffe is a field of interest for you, then learning to read some German is necessary given that most of the sources, primary or otherwise, are in that language. A good German/English dictionary will take you a long way. And then there are translation sites such as Babelfish. When neither of those options work for me, I've found many, if not all, folks here are more than happy to help with my questions.

I agree , the thread was about W. Neuenfeldt and his He 177 . This week few bits were found but both engines and more have been pinpointed . I'll share all these when excavated later .

mmm...
On the 1st pic, is it a 'passe-cable' and the end of a flare cartridge? Happy dig. |
