Re: Ju-88 Day Fighter Units?
At the end of 1943 and early 1944 several NJG's were engaging USAAF formations over Holland and Germany. It is clear, at least in hindsight, that this is not a bright idea. Several Ju 88's were lost. One specific date which comes to mind is January 30th, 1944 when several a/c of III./NJG 2 were shot down near my hometown in the eastern part of the Netherlands.

Re: Ju-88 Day Fighter Units?
Thank you for your help! If any Ju-88s were lost that day, they probably would have come down someplace between Bremen and the Dutch border, or even the eastern part of the Netherlands. It is not known exactly where B-17F42-30677 crashed, but it may be in the IJsselmeer near Urk, since the four surviving crewmembers apparently bailed out somewhere between Assen and Meppel and no wreckage of the plane has been found.
