Re: Lft.Kdo.6 - 3 Mai 45 - What do you read?

Hi All,
the word geplatzt in this contens means more like did not materialize or failed to happen. It is not used in the dictionary sense like blown up. There are several dialekts in Germany and one can only imagine during times of frustration and stress, and for reasons of abbrevity, that some commanders fell for their native tongue and may have used words that are not quite to military standards. Also both documents appear in the telepraph style.

Second document reads:
JG 2 I + II
34 aircraft Eger + Marienbad
Of those 24 took off for Erding
14 landed at Erding
From there to Holzkirchen and other airfields
II JG 2 ground units during march to Erding overcome by enemy near Cham
Kdre Oberstltn. Bühligen left prior to transfer via car direction Erding. Whereabouts unknown. The commander of II/782 reports Kdre has not arrived in Erding
Collection camp near Kufstein

Reagrds,

Norbert

End of messages is not II/782, but II/JG 2.

Does not Lw.Kdo. West (Lw.Kdo. West gemeldet) appear third line from the bottom?

Kind regards,
Pawel

Hallo Rasmussen,

Ich hätte auch "geplatzt" wohl wie "aufgelöst" verstanden. Oder wäre "zerstreut" besser ? Anyway it's OK for me. Thank you very much for your comment !

Hallo Jean - Yves,

"geplatzt" wäre im deutschen Sprachgebrauch bzw. im Dialekt auch unter Stress mehr als seltsam - "aufgelöst" ist normal.

"Geplatzt" or not ... I think it's an more theoretical discussion about my mother tongue. The sense is clear and that's the most important thing.

Best wishes
Rasmussen
