Identify airfields and a/c
Can anyone identify the airfields and the amphibian a/c depicted on 3rd shot ? ( The shot of B-24's yard it's not Foggia complex)

Yard jpg B-24 # 36 has the emblem of the 512 Sq. of the Royal Yugoslav Air Force. It's possible these aircraft are being returned to the US after hostilities.

First thought re YARD photo was Davis-Monthan Army Air Field at Tuscon/Arizona where the so-called "Boneyard" was established right after the war. At least 20 Bombardment Groups (Heavy) were trained here during the war, all or most of them equipped with B-24s. But reading further, the first aircraft sent to the D-M "Boneyard" in 1946 were B-29s and C-47s, so the photo is either a different place or the photo was taken at some date later than 1948-49.

It might help to explain background to the three photos. Are they random photos you got on ebay or are they from one persons collection? Are they related all three.

Some of the B-24s have 15th AF tail markings. Mainly operated out of Italy.

I believe one of the first airfields used as a bone yard back in USA after WW 2, was Kingman in AZ. There were plenty of B-24, B-17, B-32 aircraft there more or less from 1945. Some late production B-32s I think were flown directly from Consolidated to Kingman on their basically first flight. Having said that, I have no idea if the photo actually depicts aircraft there..., but perhaps it's worth checking? Cheers Stig

5,500 aircraft melted down at Kingman alone between 1945 and 1948 with a total salvage value of $7.5-million - $1,365 per plane, which were nearly all bombers. I guess no one wanted the metal ingots. There were at least 30 other salvage facilities doing the same thing and some of them were larger than the Kingman operation.
