Hi Hal,
to your post #4: The last Bf 109 E-3 for the Luftwaffe was delivered in June 1940 (reference in JFV Vol. 1 to C-Amt program from 1 October 1940). According to the JFV Vol. 2 and 3 the first known losses/damages of WNF built Bf 109 E-3 were WNr. 5185 II./JG 51 75% on 21 April 1940 WNr. 5156 6./JG 51 70% on 22 April 1940 WNr. 5088 6./JG 51 10% on 12 May 1940 WNr. 5010 Stab II./JG 53 5% on 20 May 1940. So the WNr. 5145 was completed long before August 1940. In the Gen.Qu. loss returns is listed a 10% taxying damage of the Bf 109 E-4 WNr. 5145 (Erg.St./JG 2) on 21 October 1941 at the airfield Cazeau. The upgrade of this plane to E-7 standard was certainly not early 1941. Regards Leo
