Re: Colour RLM 45 dark red??? / He 162 nose colour

To make it easier for Simon,
here is the comp. of Pilot's and my photocolor:

The left two colors are pilot's, only the right half is enlightened to 84% opacity to match mine in saturation. The bigger right color is taken from my photo.
Both halves show their RGB values. To me mine looks like RLM 26, if that ever had a RLM nomination...

Hard to beleive that after 50 years can be taken any match. Good idea to lighten the RGB value

If it would be possible to take a probe, you could even sample thge original hue. But If I would have done that, the museum personel would have shot me.
Anyway the exact hue is not really important. You can put the mismatch on a variation of the paint distributer/ -tion.

Re: Colour RLM 45 dark red??? / He 162 nose colour

Thank you guys!

Chris, your pics were very helpful. RLM 45 or Fliegerlack 7130 should look something like redbrown.

I found a very interesting source at www.rlm-farben.de

Go to Quellen and than download Oberflächenschutzverfahren und Anstrichstoffe

The source doesn't help with the colour, but it's to read that the final coat of the Fliegerlackkette 30 could have different RLM colours. (00/ /02/04/11/21/22/23/24/25/26/27/28/41/42/61/62/63/64/65/66/ 67/68/69/70/71)

Also see Oberflächenschutzverfahren und Anstrichstoffe der deutschen Luftfahrtindustrie und Luftwaffe 1935-1945 by Michael Ullmann page 208.

So I think its impossible to answer my question. I think I will paint the nose of the He 162 W.Nr 120231 "White 6" in RLM 70. Very strange is that the He 162 that were built in Bernburg (310027) had a very light nose, as maybe RLM 21 or RLM 67

Cheers, Simon
