Adriano - I'll try and answer some of this for you.
"Odr.Offz." is an incorrect abbreviation for "Ord.-Offz.", which is Ordonnanz-Offizier and translates as Orderly Officer in English. I do not know where the incorrect abbreviation came from, but I have my suspicions. It has nothing to do with Ordnance. Were there two (2) Herbert VATERs or just one? There were 2 as evidenced by the separate dates of birth. The entries for both appear to be correct. To know with certainty would require the Karteikarte for both of them and to obtain copies of these from BA-MA Freiburg would cost between € 30. and € 100., depending on whether they have already been microfilmed or digitally scanned by BA-MA or Selke, or not. Kondor Legion: I don't know but I suspect the answer is "no". There are a number of books and websites now on the Kondor Legion, so you might want to check those. HTH, Larry deZ.
