Re: Hitlers Fw-200

Thought you would all be interested in the attaced damage reprt from Shonwalde airfield for 10 April 1945. Beween 1500 and 1520, shortly after I broke off from Walter Schuck I was straffing Shonwalde. Among the aircraft I claimed destroying during this action was an FW-200. A couple of weeks ago I received the following from a researcher friend (Mario Schulze) who has done extensive researcher on the aerial combat in and arround Oranienberg on 10 April 1945.

"The most interresting page is page No.4, wich reports damages done by straffing US fighter plane in the area of middle Germany. They mostly attacking airfields around Berlin and straffing trains and rail yards in central Germany. I was most surprised by an statement, under the Para “Bordwaffenangriffe auf Fliegerhorste – Board weapon attacks on airfields”, about an ground straffing at the Schönwalde airfield.
The entry means as follows: “Schönwalde at 15.05 and 15.10 hours BOWA (means Bordwaffen – Boardweapon),
2 (two) ground attacks by each 1 (one) Mustang.
1(one) Fw-200
1(one) He-111 destroyed.
1(one) Ju-52 slightly damaged. “

As your MACR’s stating was Schönwalde the last known position of you . That means, this report confirming the results of your ground attack. Congratulation! The Fw-200 was one of Hitler’s flight squadron.

Tally Ho

Mario"

He sent me a copy of the original report but I was unable to attach it.

Re: Hitlers Fw-200

Enclosed a colour photo of Hitler departing in a Fw 200.
This comes from the book " Bilder des 2. Weltkriegs " published by
SPIEGEL.
If this is the plane discussed in this thread I cannot say,but I suspect
it is a strong possibility.

Etienne.
