Fw 200 claimed on 29-Jan-1944
Could anyone comfirm the claim by Typhoons of 247 Sqd. for a Condor shot down east of Chateaudun on this date please. If available any codes, worknumber or crew details greatly appreciated, the source for this is the book 'The Typhoon and Tempest Story',

Hello Brian,
For that date, I have : Fw 200, WNr 139, F8 + HW of IV/KG 40, shot down by fighters at Somerville S of Chateaudun , 100 % destroyed, with 4 of the crew killed and 4 injured Cheers Marc

FW 200 C-4/U2, 0139, F8+HW of 12/KG 40. Crashed Semerville. Fw Kurt Miklas + 3 killed; 4 injured (I have all the names)

Hello Brian
As you mentioned 247 SQN, the unit was this day I belive led by Oberstløynant (W/C) Erik Haabjorn, the wellknown Norwegian leader of 124 Typhoon Wing. He in fact led the attack on the Fw 200. Haabjorn and 3 pilots from 247 was afterwards allowed 1 Fw destroed, each 1/4. However it was said later that Haabjørn gave away what could have been his victory alone to some of the the more active of his men. The story was told by a couple of Norwegian pilots and not confirmed nor denied later by Haabjorn. Greetings from Norway. Knut
