Re: 'Yellow 16' recovered today
Hi, guys.
The full story of this aircraft will be further investigated as soon as the identity can be established beyond any doubt, and publications/press releases will probably come from the workgroup at that time. The aircraft was lost when the pilot was forced to ditch soon after take-off from Herdla airfield, if the identity is what we think, a lot is known about this aircraft. I must admit it is a beautiful start for a project, most markings are intact including a most interesting personal emblem! Regards, Andreas B |

Re: 'Yellow 16' recovered today
A most remarkable discovery, indeed.
Here's my preliminary interpretation of the aircraft, I have yet to incorporate the lack of exhaust flaps, something I expected this aicraft to have! ![]() Regards, Kjetil |

Re: 'Yellow 16' recovered today
If this is WNr 425, I have this as an A-2, lost June 2, 1943 from IV./JG 5, crash landed due to engine trougble. I have no pilot listed.
If it is an A-2, Kjetil, it would have "slot" louvers as opposed to the "flap" type which were only on late production A-4s and all A-5s on. |
