Re: Aleksandr Pokryshkin: Know Yourself in Combat
Hello,
This is an interesting book and a marvellous work by Ferrer-Martínez and Fraile-Nuez to translate it and self-publishing it! 520 pages (!), a few pictures but unfortunately no index! It ends with crediting him with 103 confirmed victories according to Soviet sources and 145 victories according to the authors research work (which is far ahead of Bykov’s 43+4 or the official 59!). 54 victories are according to the authors confirmed with German records. I haven’t had the time yet to work through their analysis of the victories. Best regards/Hĺkan

Re: Aleksandr Pokryshkin: Know Yourself in Combat
"103 confirmed victories according to Soviet sources and 145 victories according to the authors research work." This sounds incredulous to me. How is it possible to double the victories of an 'ace', with 'kills' that even the pilot himself didn't claim back then?
