Walrus - No. 276 Squadron - L2220 - crew 20 March 1945a

Walrus L2220 of RAF No. 276 Squadron was lost off The Hague on 20 March 1945 in an eventually unsuccessful Allied attempt to pick up a ditched RAAF Spitfire pilot.

Crew of Walrus was picked up by a 5th ERS Catalina later on.

ORB has as Walrus crew W/O B.Bowe, W/O N(orman) Cameron and W/O G. DuRose.

On the other hand, the 65th FW War Diary says that the Catalina picked up W/O F. Shipley instead of W/O DuRose from the Walrus.
Shipley was with No. 276 Squadron indeed, according the ORB.

Service numbers given in the 65th FW report are 1042109 for Bowe, 755392 for Cameron and 1438005 for Shipley.

Apart from the question of the actual Walrus crew, who can help me with the first names of G. DuRose, F. Shipley and B. Bowe?

All info welcome, thanks.

Regards, Leendert
