Re: Bf109 - Anzio ? - ID pilot
It seems to be a I. Gruppe aircraft (no marking is visible aft of the cross) and the "6" appears yellow (3. Staffel). On the Anzio front at this period, as far as I remember, I./JG 4 was the only I. Gruppe equipped with the Bf 109. (I./JG 53 and I./JG 77 were defending the North of Italy; 3./NAGr. 11 was not formed until February and received its first aircraft in March.)
I./JG 4 did report an aircraft missing in action on 24 January 1944 and 4 shot down in air combat on 22 January. (Bundesarchiv RL 2-III/852) |
