I just looked in my books "JG 26 Diary" by D. Caldwell but i could not find any of the mentioned names! Sorry! Best wishes Christian

Hi Alain,
Feldwebel Alois Ripplinger was a pilot of 4./(F)123, he and Leutnant Bernhard Frank were shot down at zero feet by F/Sgt Frank Murphy and F/O G. G. Thomas in Typhoon Ib's of No.486 (NZ) Squadron. Both Messerschmitts and pilots lost 20 - 30 miles SSE of St. Catherines Point on the 24.12.42. Ripplinger's A/C Messerschmitt Bf 109G-1 Wnr.14135 White 22 + Frank's Messerschmitt Bf 109G-1 Wnr.14133 White 19 + Regards Melvin

Bernhard Frank was also with 4./(F)123. The GQM records list him as MIA "cause unknown". So, Melvin, where did your information about F/Sgt Frank Murphy and F/O G. G. Thomas come from?

John: Melvin is right-Thomas was in R8781/SA-H & Murphy in R8744/SA-M. Source: Combat reports & ORB

Hi
Did some research on Ripplinger in 2003 but cannot remember why. Here is the squadron record and a photo of Ripplinger. Must be getting old as it was not that long ago. regards Mark
