Re: Fw.200 losses Sep 1941 ,Nov 1941,Dec 1941

Hi Guys
looking further into the 802 Sq claims it eems possible that a little optimism or double claiming occurred, understandable in the conditions the combats were fought in-cloudy etc.
It seems possible that the FW.200 claimed by Hutchinson on 8 Nov which shot down Wintour may have escaped as he reported it going down in flames! not hitting the sea - did any KG40 aircraft report shooting down a Martlett ?-was it not damaged as severely as Hutchinson thought and was it later shot down by Brown ?
On 19 Dec did the Fw.200 claimed by Brown go down ? he made the claim in the morning, Sleigh reported scrambling at 11.30 hrs and certainly came back with part of the Fw.200 attached to his aircraft and reported the
Condor in the sea with acrewman out on the wing - was this the same aorcraft attacked by Brown?
The plot thickens

LTGeorg Schaffranek was my great Grandfather-he flew a Fokke FW 200 "Condor". Who knows something about him?I do not know so much, because most of our documents about him are lost...finding this forum was a big coincident- I have searched informations about him since years. Please help me...

Hello Chris,

I think you told me that FW F8+IH was responsabile for sinking SS Dago March 15th 1942 in Peniche Portugal.

Is that right? because i read now of a possible lost of this FW in 1941?

Thanks and best.

Jorge Russo
